Kahookele holds two Master Degrees : Public Health and Urban & Regional Planning. Raised in Hauula and Palolo Valley, Oahu, Hawaii, she was influenced by fishermen, politicians, musicians and educators. At the age of 8 she won her first art contest and continued her creative endeavors in other art forms. After graduation from Kamehameha Schools (1970), she worked: in travel; radio, TV and print media; and she then returned to college to earn her masters. As a entrepreneur she opened the Breakfast In Bed Company, is an independent publisher of the Oiwi Files, and operates the TAP Pool league (billiards) . She now devotes time to her passion of painting and Job’s tears jewelry and music.
